Lazzerini unveils Re-Compact at Milan Design Week 2026

From material research to concrete application: during Milan Design Week 2026, Lazzerini presented a project combining innovation, sustainability, and design applied to the world of public transportation. At the center of the initiative is Re-Compact, a seat made entirely from recycled plastic, showcased within the exhibition “The New State of Materials”, curated by Materially.

Developed in collaboration with NEXTCHEM and MyReplast Industries, the project applies circular economy principles to plastics: post-consumer waste is chemically recycled, transformed into high-quality technical granules, and used to create a durable product that is both recycled and recyclable.

The installation visually narrates this process: a sequence of plexiglass cubes containing recycled granules interacts with the finished seat, making the transformation from waste to resource tangible and demonstrating how sustainability can be translated into concrete design solutions.

A project that shows how circularity can represent not only a foundational element of the company’s mission, but also an industrial lever for value creation.
